come into cont

with many different people
Too often, so involved
in ourselves,

K

we are unaware
that these
people even
exist.

Going through our
years at
Princess Anne,
we see all of the
various activities
that occur; but,
still so involved

in our ow^n selves, we don't

care w^hat is going on

around us; thus:
we become
apathetic.

What would happen

if there were a

dance and the band

did not come?

what would happen
ere were a
tball game
nobody came i
eer^ a^i^^

/

.kip'*'^-

'h ^^''f^'

Very few activities

bring our student body

together for a short period of time

But all too soon
the activity ends,
and we once again
are apathetic.

Now the time has come

for us to reach out to each other,

and hold on to those friends

we have looked so long and hard to find. ^

When unity
comes, everyone

works together.
Those events
and activities
become times
of progress to
organizations,
classes, and
individuals.

12

Just as it takes
two to share,

it takes two
to start
building
that foundation
for unity.

DONT QUIT

When things go wrong as tli(;y somutimcs will,
When the road you'ro trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low and the d(;bts an; high,
And you want to smih;, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit —
Rest if you must, but don't you cjuil.

Life is queer with its twists and turns,

As every one of us sometimes learns,

And many a fellow turns about

When he might have; won had he stuck it out.

DONT give up though the pace seems slow —

you may succeed with another blow.

Often the goal is nearer than

It seems to a faint and faltering man;

Often the struggler has given up

When he might have captured the victor's cup;

And he learned too late when the night came down.

How close he was to the golden crown.

Success is failure turned inside out —
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar:
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit —
It's when things seem worst that you musn't quit.

Memories for Senioi

68

In late 1975, the Senior Class of 76 was plagued with disorganization. The active class had a difficult
time bringing it^ members together on a decision about the class symbol. When the flags, star, and
"Spirit of 76" banner was agreed upon, the class quickly united together to traditionally paint THEIR
symbol on the roof. Unfortunately, two disasters befell the 1976 graduates. Painting had begun in the
summer, but the roof of the gymnasium collapsed. After reconstruction and long hours of completing the
symbol, Seniors were once again disappointed when they came to school one September morning only
to find that vandals had splattered the roof with blue paint. Reorganization and more work were met
with, and the symbol of the Class of 1976 shone on the Princess Anne gym.

"Do You Know Where You're Goin' To" was tne theme on May 22 for the 76 Se-
nior Prom. That specialty of graduating filh-!(l th(> air at Holiday Inn Scope. The
music of Sm(!(! II entertained the seniors from eight until twelxc that night. The
seniors entertained th(^msel\'es at the Breakfasts and numerous parti(>s after
prom. With the prom in good att(Midaiice and class spirit high, the 1976 senior
-class did indeed seem to know where th(!y wcire going.

The gate to the future opened on June 14 at 8:00 for 546 students of
Princess Anne. The Bicentennial Class hailed a very high 81 honor
graduates. Speaker Michael Christian, a prisoner of the Vietnamese
war, started these graduates off into a new American era. Leaving
the times Mr. Christian fought in, and entering a world at their own
command was an invigorating idea to the class of 76. Although
graduation is a basically happy time, the seniors looked back in re-
trospect on the times they worked, played, skipped, studied, and
made close friends, and were struck with a bit of sadness. For
going on is always both joyous and tearful.

Only a short ways to go ! !

The Juniors have united with enthusiasm
to make their class a special asset to
Princess Anne. During football season
they established Junior Night as a new
tradition with mums for the game and a
dance afterwards. The juniors had a spec-
tacular Homecoming float depicting
"Aviation-past and present". They held
two pizza parties and climaxed the year
with the Ring Dance.

The Junior Class had two capable and en-
thusiastic sponsors: Mrs. Harris and Mrs.
Engel, both Spanish teachers.

as a motivated and spirited group of people. They will reach their full po-

Sophomores do it ... .

School taken by surprise.

The Cavalier Class of "78 was one
of the most enthusiastic, hard-
working classes to come to
Princess Anne. At Homecoming
their Eagle float took second
place.

The class has been busy
throughout the year dancing,
raking leaves, and eating pizza in
an effort to build up their treasury.

With big plans for the coming
years at Princ(;ss Anne, the sopho-
mores worked under the guidance
of Mrs. lones and Mrs. |(>nkins.

Wild I'lower

"I,(;t her cry for she's a lady

l-ot her dream for she's a child

Let the rain fall down upon her

She's a free and gentle flower growing

wild"

Reach out, my friend

Let yourself smile,

And we'll be together

Just for a while.

Let yourself do what you feel inside

Trusting that it's right.

Don't be afraid to give of yourself.

And remember that sun pierces night.

And once you've looked beneath the

sham

You'll find that all the good

Is hidden like the wild flower

Deep inside the wood.

dep't presents

The International Thespian
Society of Princess Anne High
School opened its 1975-1976
season with Black Comedy by
Peter Shaffer. The play offered
a new t\^e of drama for the
cast and crew. The plot of the
play developed after a fuse
was blown and what the audi-
ence saw was a strange collec-
tion of people groping their
way around in the supposed
dark.

Other plans for the year was a
Thespian slumber party, the
one-act drama festival, the
state drama convention, two
nights of one-act plays, the
play, The Diary of Anne
Frank, the spring beach party,
and the awards night where
three scholarships were given.
One act plays were taken to
the Medic-Home Health
Center. The group also spon-
sored the school talent show
and the Thespian dance.

The cast assembles

The newspaper staff has done an exceptional job of
providing Cavaliers with news, entertainment and
information throughout the year. The "Page" is dis-
tributed free of charge ten times annually. It has the
largest distribution of any school newspaper in the
city.

The "Page" earned a merit award from the Inter-
scholastic Press Association and a first place award
from the Virginia High School Press Association.

The staff held two car washes this year and spon-
sored two dances, one of which was the dance for
the powder puff teams.

The journalism students worked with the annual
staff on an assembly to boost annual sales last
November.

Editor-in-Chief, Michelle ReDavid, represented
Princess Anne on a radio show "The Editors '. This
was aired every Sunday afternoon on WNOR AM
and FM stations.

The new sponsor, Mrs. Sharer, has done a remark-
able job this year. She, with the editors and staff,
has made the "Page" something for every Cavalier
to look forward to and be proud of.

The French National Honor Society is an
organization which strives to promote a

the year F.N.H.S. held a car wash in order
to raise money for the 1975 Homecoming
